After The Annunciation

· Poetry,Love

This wonderful Advent poem by Madeleine L’Engle reminds us that reason is not the only venue towards knowledge. We come to know things through our hearts and our instincts, our spirits and our souls as well. Love often fits in the arena of the “irrational,” as those of us who have been lucky enough to love know.

Thank goodness that Mary said yes, against all reason.

After Annunciation

Madeleine L’Engle

This is the irrational season

when love blooms bright and wild.

Had Mary been filled with reason

there’d have been no room for the child.
